Links

Here are links that I think you can benefit from. Although I have benefitted from the the products and/or services of these sites, I don’t guarantee that you will. Some of these sites are Jewish or “religious,” others not so much. Remember, your computer ought to have a warning label: WARNING! Spending too much time on the Internet may be hazardous to your health, wealth, productivity and relationships! (Each link opens in a new window.)

Breslov Sites

The Breslov Research Institute web site. The first Breslov web site on the Internet and the most reliable. I know because I worked for it for over a dozen years. Go to the “About” menu for short biographies of Rebbe Nachman and Reb Noson. (The Wikipedia entries aren’t bad.)

Breslov.com is a virtual Breslov mall. Just because I don’t go for the way others present Breslov, doesn’t mean I’m right or that you won’t gain something. An educated consumer is our best customer.

The Breslev (notice the alternative spelling) community in Tzfat (Safed) has a treasure trove of mp3s—in Yiddish and Hebrew. If you listen to no other Breslov teachings, listen to the four from Reb Gedalya Kenig zal‘s (obm) interviews on WBAI from 1979 (?). Reb Gedalya speaks in “beginner’s” Hebrew. A few interviews are interlaced with a fair amount of English, from the DJ’s.

Where Earth and Heaven Kiss, my how-to manual on how to speak to God. The price will go down when it’s back in print (very soon, Gd willing). There is also an e-book edition.

If you have time, here’s a video of yours truly teaching a group of Satmar chassidim about hisbodedus. Warning! It brings you to youtube.

Jewish, not Breslov

Sarah Yehudit Schneider is a Still Small Voice that deserves to be heard.

Avraham Sutton is a throwback, a kabbalist who doesn’t look like a kabbalist.

David Schweke is the host of Exciting Judaism, which presents a lot of interesting—and exciting—Judaism. Links to videos of classes given by various teachers.

Feel free to visit my pal Sal, and find out how he became the Accidental Talmudist. See where he’s holding in Gemara. (I post there sometimes.)

Another friend, a “Jew by choice” (i.e., a convert), has written a book containing chassidic teachings about converts. Peruse it here.

General

Udel, my wife, works with all kinds of addicts, with all kinds of addictions. Read about her.

I like Peter Himmelman’s album From Strength to Strength. It’s Jewish music the way it oughta be.

  1. Love it. Hatzlocha. I’ll be back. IyH . I read Likutei Tefilos 1-84, the first paragraph, I reviewed its love, desire, and yearning for Eretz Yisroel with my Wife and Shabos guest, who’s a Rav and lives in Afula, with my Chavrusa, learning associate, and son. I can’t put it down.
